Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide car identification and valuation features. We do not sell your data.
- Camera & Photos — When you photograph a vehicle, the image is processed to identify the car's make, model, and year. Photos are not stored on our servers and are not shared with third parties beyond what is necessary for AI analysis (see Section 3).
- Photo Library Access — If you choose to import a photo from your library, access is granted only at the moment of selection. We do not browse or retain your photo library.
- Usage Data — We may collect anonymous, aggregated data about app interactions (e.g. number of scans, feature usage) to improve the app experience. This data cannot be linked back to you personally.
- Subscription & Purchase Data — In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We receive only confirmation of your subscription status and do not have access to your payment details.
- Locally Stored History — Your scan history and detected vehicle records are stored locally on your device using your device's secure storage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it.
How We Use Your Information
Information collected is used solely to operate and improve the app:
- Car Identification — Photos you capture are sent to Google Gemini AI for analysis. Gemini returns structured data (make, model, year, trim) which we use to display results. Images are processed transiently and are not retained by our systems after the request completes.
- Market Valuations — Identified vehicle details are used to look up estimated market values. No personal information is attached to these queries.
- Subscription Management — Subscription status is used to determine which features (unlimited scans, Pro tier) are available to you.
- App Improvement — Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics help us understand which features are most used and where the app can be improved.
We do not use your photos, scan history, or personal data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the service to you.
Third-Party Services
The app integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy which governs how they handle data.
Powers car identification from photos. Images are sent to Google's API for processing. Google's data handling is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Handles all in-app purchases and subscription billing. Apple does not share your payment details with us. See the Apple Privacy Policy.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration public API is used to validate vehicle make and model data. No personal information is transmitted in these queries.
Data Storage & Security
We take the security of your data seriously and follow platform best practices:
- On-Device Storage — Your scan history and app preferences are stored locally on your device. They are protected by iOS's built-in data protection and sandboxing mechanisms.
- API Key Security — If you optionally provide your own AI API keys, they are stored in your device's Keychain — Apple's secure, encrypted credential store — and are never transmitted to us.
- Encrypted Transmission — All network requests to external services use HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- No User Accounts — The app does not require you to create an account. No email address, name, or personal identifier is collected by us.
- Data Retention — Images sent for AI analysis are not retained by our systems. Local scan history is retained on your device until you delete the app or clear your history within the app.
